Apr 23, 2012 -- 3:27pm

MIAMI, FL – The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT forward LeBron James was named the Eastern Conference Player of Week for games played Monday, April 16, through Sunday, April 22. This marks the 37th time James has earned Player of the Week accolades in his career, the most times a player has earned the honors in NBA history. It also marks the 39th time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Week honors and the 11th time James has earned the honor as a member of the HEAT. Additionally, this marks James’ sixth Player of the Week honor this season.

James led the HEAT to a 4-1 record, the only loss coming in a game in which James did not play, as he averaged 31.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.25 steals and 1.00 blocks while shooting 57.5 percent (42-of-73) from the field, 50 percent (4-of-8) from three-point range and 87.8 percent (36-of-41) from the foul line for the week. He recorded one double-double while scoring at least 25 points in all four games in which he appeared, including two 30-point performances. He led the team in scoring in all four games and in assists three times, in steals twice and in rebounds and minutes once each.

He started the week off scoring a game-high 37 points, including the final 17 points for the HEAT with only 4:47 remaining, at New Jersey on April 16 to help capture a three-point, 101-98, win. The 17 consecutive points tied the Miami franchise record for most consecutive points to end a HEAT victory. He then tallied a game-high 28 points on 12-of-15 (.800) from the field, his second-highest single-game field goal percentage of his career in route to the 96-72 win vs. Toronto on April 18. In the second night of a back-to-back set on April 19, he posted a double-double with game highs in points (27), rebounds (11) and assists (6) in the 83-72 victory against the Chicago Bulls. Additionally, he scored his 19,000th career point in the win over Chicago. In the final game of the week, a nine-point, 97-88, win vs. Houston on April 22, he scored a game-high 32 points while grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out five assists, blocking two shots and recording a steal.

Among league leaders this season, James ranks third in scoring (27.1), third in steals (1.85), sixth in minutes (37.5), 10th in field goal percentage (.531), 13th in assists (6.2) and tied for 26th in rebounds (7.9).
