Land Rover Palm Beach Player of the Week: Daniel Parr

Dec 03, 2013 -- 1:19pm

Player: Daniel Parr
School: Dwyer
Class: Junior
Position: Quarterback

You threw for over 300 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. What did it feel like to put together that kind of performance?

I felt like I owed it to my team. Our defense has played great for us all year and we knew there was going to be a game where we needed to pick them up and it just felt right that we did that.

How have you evolved as a player this year?

A lot. Last year, I got a little bit of experience, but over the summer I really made sure I worked really hard to prepare myself for this year and for a state title run.

What jumps out to you about [Friday's opponent] East Lake?

They're very similar to St. Thomas. They have a lot of athletes. A lot of similar looks that we saw last weekend. We already have a lot of stuff that we ran against St. Thomas in, so we should be prepared to do it again.

You guys have a four-hour ride to East Lake on Friday. Does the preparation change at all with that long of a trip?

A little bit. Especially after playing three straight home games. We've just got to stay focused and focus on the task at hand. That's all we have to do.

How dialed in is the passing game right now?

Well, obviously we're out here everyday running through all of our routes, all of our combos. Our timing is the best its been all year, so we're looking good heading into this week.

Are you cheering for [crosstown rival] Palm Beach Gardens on Friday night?

We definitely cheer them on. We have a lot of friends over there. I know a lot of coaches over there, so definitely cheering for them and wishing them the best.

Were you surprised they beat Miramar last round?

Honestly, yeah [laughs]. I saw in the paper they were 28-point underdogs, but I knew they had the drive to play well and stay in the game and eventually win.

Land Rover Palm Beach Player of the Week: Tommy McDonald

Yeah I play basketball, just because it keeps me in shape for the season.

What is your favorite food to eat?

Probably chicken.

What is your favorite movie?

Friday Night Lights.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a professional football player.

If you had the chance to travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

New York, I’ve never been and everyone always tells me how fun it is and everything.

Describe the most embarrassing athletic moment you ever had?

One time we were playing flag football here and someone pants me and everything showed.

Who is your celebrity crush and why?

Miley Cyrus, because she’s just beautiful.

Who is your favorite professional sports team and why?

I think it would have to be the Vikings because Adrian Peterson is the man. That’s the only reason why I watch that team is because of Adrian.

Player: Travis Rudolph
School: Cardinal Newman
Class: Senior
Position: WR

What are some of your goals for the rest of the season?

Definitely try to win districts, and hopefully win states. I just want to win, no personal goals, just win for the team.

As a wide receiver what are your ideas or objectives moving the offensive to move forward towards the end of the season?

Just score points, make it hard for other teams to beat us. Our defense is great but with good defense you need a good offense.

Any plans of playing college football?

Yes definitely, right now I have thirty plus offers. Just have to narrow it down.

Where is your dream University to play at?

I don’t say I really have one but I’m a big fan of Alabama, roll tide.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

NFL football player of course, but if that doesn’t work out I’ll still have to think about that.

Do you play or enjoy playing any other sports besides football?

Yes, I play basketball and track. I enjoy playing basketball, it was one of the first sports I played.
