Six former area high school players selected in NFL Draft

With the 2012 NFL Draft in the books, here's a breakdown of the former area high school players who heard their names called this weekend.

1) Janoris Jenkins (Pahokee) St. Louis Rams
         -2nd Round (#39 overall)

Noteworthy: With Dwight Bentley's selection by the Detroit Lions, both of the starting cornerbacks from Pahokee's 2006 State Championship team were chosen in the NFL Draft.

2) Dwight Bentley (Pahokee) Detroit Lions
         -3rd Round (#85 overall)

Noteworthy: Bentley will team up with former Pahokee cornerback Alphonso Smith former Palm Beach Gardens standout Willie Young on the Lions defense.

3) Jayron Hosley (Atlantic) New York Giants    
         -3rd Round (#94 overall)

Noteworthy: The former Atlantic cornerback could be matched up against another Eagle alum week two when the Giants take on Tampa Bay and wide receiver Preston Parker.

4) Travis Benjamin (Glades Central) Cleveland Browns                    -                                   -4th round (#100 overall)

Noteworthy: Week 14, the speedy wide receiver will have to navigate his way around former Atlantic standout and Kansas City cornerback Brandon Flowers.

5) Joe Looney (Lake Worth) San Francisco
         -4th Round (#117 overall)

Noteworthy: With the selection of Joe Looney, Lake Worth becomes the second area school to have two players drafted in this year's class.

6) LaVon Brazil (Lake Worth) Indianapolis
        -6th Round (#206 overall)

Noteworthy: Brazil could have a chance to compete for playing time at wide receiver with former John I. Leonard alum Pierre Garcon departing for the Washington Redskins.
