Forgetting Sarah Marshall

May 11, 2008 -- 12:28pm

Saw "Forgetting Sara Marshall," a solid flick from the Jud Apatow family (Knocked Up, Super Bad).  Jason Segel, who had a smaller part in Knocked Up, shows off his potential as a lead.  I have him as a combo of Judge Reinhold and Vince Vaughn.  But Mila Kunis steals the film.  Totally hottie, rising star, who depending on the angle is a cross between Elisa Dushku and Angelina Jolie.  Only knock on her, and it's a big one, is that she has been dating dating......Macaulay Culkin for the past 6 years.

Random.....

- Orlando Magic need a forward who is willing to ever step foot within the 3pt line and Turkolu and Rashard Lewis don't fit that mold.  Dwight Howard gets all those rebs in part because he's the only person on the team that.

- In what's been a chippy NBA playoffs all around, I can't believe Joe Smith and Ben Wallace haven't done more to get LeBron's back vs. Wash and now Bos, especially after James Posey's attempt at decapitating him on Saturday.  Hey Mike Brown, at least put Dwayne Jones in to sucker punch KG....

- It's now an annual ritual for the Yankees to start slow, so I'm not panicking, but would officially like to get a Greg Maddux to the Bronx rumor going.

- SpyGate's Matt Walsh and Clemens saga's Brian McNamee should headline a Sports version of 'Surreal Life' on ESPN Classic...

Cinco de Mayo with espnU

May 04, 2008 -- 9:05pm

On Monday (5/5) ESPNU will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo by showcasing players who have worn #5.  What a Steve & Craig move!

Here's the lineup:

9 a.m.- Edgerrin James: Miami vs. UCLA (1998)
11 a.m.- Donovan McNabb: Syracuse vs. Virginia Tech (1998)
1 p.m.- LaDainian Tomlinson: TCU vs. East Carolina (1999 Mobile Bowl)
3:30 p.m.- Reggie Bush: USC vs. UCLA (2005)
6:30 p.m.- Darren McFadden: Arkansas vs. South Carolina (2005)
9 p.m.- Christ Lofton: Florida vs. Tennessee (2008)
10:30 p.m.- O.J. Mayo: USC vs. Arizona (2008)

This is an example of a network have too much time w/ nothing to do....I can't confirm, but speculation that terrible voice-overs with poor edits will be manned by Kirk Jimenez.  Good looking out by my boy Juan who gave me a heads up on this.

Hotties or Notties?

May 02, 2008 -- 11:50am

Take a look at Roger Clemen's ladies and decide for yourself.

Door #1: Wife, Debbie

Door #2: John Daly's ex-wife, Paulette Dean (who was supposedly a hottie in the '90s when she met John)

The woman at the center of the Clemens controversy, country singer Mindy McCready, confirmed her affair with the Rocket on Monday.

Door #3: Mindy McCready:

I think I'd choose wife, Debbie - how about you??

Ken LaVicka is a GOD!

Apr 23, 2008 -- 11:03pm

now that I have your attention....

Was driving on Village Boulevard the other day and came up on an un-godly sight – ESPN Radio 760’s Ken LaVicka jogging…but wait there’s more…wearing a grey “wife-beater.”  Wait, one more thing...he was sweating like the late Louie Anderson waiting in line at a buffet.  This was 1pm, dead smack in the middle of the day, I almost drove off the road.

Why is everyone so big on the Western Conference playoffs and paying no attention to the East?  In my book, the East is as much if not more interesting, because I’ve already anointed the San Antonio Spurs, Western champs, while the East to me is wide open between Boston, Detroit and Cleveland.  Even though Cleveland is actually terrible – yes, they start Delonte West (see pic below for scary neck tatoo)and Wally Szczerbiak at guards – Lebron is becoming an all-time clutch playoff performer no matter who is running with him.  Mark it down.

Great to live in a world where the Sixers can upset the Pistons in Game 1!

Apr 21, 2008 -- 3:43am

…..and I still have the Pistons to the Finals.  Something about the Celtics still says to me they rely too much on the jump shot.

Eli Manning and Abby McGrew got married this weekend, but still some things on his registry available.  Since my co-host Craig and producer J.Mart rode me mercilessly a few years ago for my wedding registry (which I had about as much to do w/ it as Tiger’s swing coach does his success), I thought I’d beat up on someone else.  Still out there: $345 china vegetable dish, $280 sterling silver teaspoons, $240 2-slot toaster (for that kind of $$, it better guarantee NEVER to burn his bagels)…

Was reading an interview w/ Yankees Chien Ming Wang in the NY Post…some interesting stuff you wouldn’t expect, including his favorite singer – Snoop Dog and his favorite actor – Nicolas Cage

When no big-time skill position players are projected to go first in the draft, the prevailing thought is that the team picking first will have to overpay because the player can’t make as much as an impact.  But if the Dolphins go with a Tackle, I can think of at least 2 teams in the last 10 years that took a tackle atop the draft and have Super Bowl wins to show for it – Rams (Orlando Pace) and Ravens (Jonathan Ogden).  Hello Jake Long!

So it turns out that Miguel Tejada is really 33, 2 years older than he’s always said.  When the espn reporter busted him, Tejada should have just said that those B-12 shots he was taking with Rafael Palmeiro (yeah, right) make his FEEL like he’s 2 years younger and that’s all he’s trying to say.

“A Tradition Unlike Any Other” - this year marked the 5th straight Final Four that Jim Gray has stopped by Radio Row to talk with Craig and I, amongst others.  And 5 straight years the interview has been extremely fun because you have no idea where Jim is going.
